Dear eclipse users,

The 5.0.0 eclipse version has been released three weeks ago.

http://www.eso.org/projects/aot/eclipse/

This release is the last one as eclipse support has been stopped. The
eclipse library has been replaced by the Common Pipeline Library (CPL):

http://www.eso.org/observing/cpl/

The pipelines supported by eclipse so far (ISAAC and NACO) have been
re-written and use the CPL like all other ESO standard VLT pipelines.

CPL is a C library and has replaced eclipse at ESO. It contains most of
the functionalities that were offered so far by eclipse, with lots of
additional modules, a very detailled and useful reference guide, a good
documentation, and a complete team dedicated for its development and
support.

The command line tools offered by eclipse (ccube, stcube, ...) are still
available through this last release, they might be offered in a new
package based on CPL in the near future.

Cheers,
Yves Jung

"This release is the last one as eclipse support has been stopped."
Although we are maintaining our own version of eclipse, we should keep
an eye on CPL. Presumably, CPL - including a Python binding - that is
maintained by ESO and freely available, obviates the need to maintain
eclipse.
On the other hand - until now - eclipse maintenance did not require too
much effort.
