Dear Astro-Wiser,

Starting Tuesday, February 25th, the largest filesystem that is used by the
Groningen dataservers will be offline for maintenance. Since this involves
the replacement of a complete storage node the hardware experts expect the
entire procedure to take at least a week.
We have tried to ensure that the data that is most likely to be accessed
during the downtime of the filesystem is available from temporary storage.
However, since we do not have sufficient temporary disk storage available
for all our data, some of the data that is less likely to be used will have
to be restored from tape. If this happens to you and you would like your
files to be restored please inform Kor, with a Cc to Danny.

Some controllers of the database hardware will also have to be replaced,
but it is not yet known whether this can be done without database downtime.
If database downtime is required we attempt to have the controllers
replaced sometime during the maintenance of the filesystem. In that case
you will be informed.

The Groningen webservers will remain available.

Kind regards,

Kor & Danny
